Cate finds herself drawing from a diverse pool of experiences when she starts a new painting. She lived in New Mexico and Arizona for 13 years and her various jobs involved interaction and travel into several of the region’s tribal areas. Her family was often invited to ceremonies or dances, during that time she enjoyed collecting native art, jewelry, pottery, and rugs. As a child she was surrounded by a family with several artists and attended art club meetings, plein air outings, and gallery shows. Cate is a member of The Western Colorado Center for the Arts, The Brush and Palette Club of Grand Junction CO, and The Carbon County Art Guild and Depot Gallery in Red Lodge, Montana. She enjoys participating in exhibits and workshops. Cate’s family was also active in rodeo and she loves seeing the world from a saddle. After years in the ski industry as a ski school manager, trainer and program designer she joined the ranks of law enforcement. As a Colorado State Park Ranger she worked in the forests of western Colorado. More recently she served as a reserve deputy marshal in a western Colorado town. The constants you will find in her art are bright, bold colors and subjects that seek to trigger a connection or memory with the viewer. Having been blessed with a home filled with art through the years, she prices her work to allow a wide range of buyers to own original art for their home and family.
