Color and light are the focus of Elizabeth LaRowe’s artwork. Because of its spontaneous nature, her personal artistic efforts have concentrated on using water media techniques for the past 40 years. She enjoys plein-air painting on location where she captures the essence of the scenes on paper.
Living in Red Lodge and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida is inspirational for her artistic talents because of the rich resources for artistic expression. The changing light falling on the diverse landscapes and the constantly changing atmospheric conditions are just asking to be painted.
Elizabeth N. LaRowe holds a BFA degree from the University of Denver and a MAT from the University of Wyoming. She recently retired after a 39 year art educator career. Her teaching experiences encompassed kindergarten through college level courses. “Teaching art forces one to break down artistic and creative processes into small understandable steps with the added benefit of making the teacher a better artist."
She has taken workshops under the direction of professional artists; Zoltan Szabo, Irving Shapiro Tony Couch, Steve Quiller, Charles Reid, Judi Betts, Judy Morris, Nita Leland and Mark Meheffey. Elizabeth has processed the information and techniques learned at the workshops into her own artistic style.
Elizabeth has participated and won awards in many local and regional juried shows. Most recently her painting "Rock Creek" was chosen to be in North Light Books "Splash 16" to be published in June 2015. Her works adorn homes and businesses throughout the United States.
