Beartooth Plein Air Society Annual Exhibit
Plein Air Society Exhibit at the Arts Guild The 7th Annual Beartooth Plein Air Society Show of recent works will begin this October at the Carbon County Arts Guild in Red Lodge. . The Beartooth Plein Air Society was started by The Painted Ladies, a small group of local painters, as a way to encourage everyone, at all levels, to try their hand at painting out in nature. The society hopes to pass along their enthusiasm and love of plein air painting and the endeavor has been a great success. According to Dorci Newman Tremblay, a founding member of the society, “we went to some new places this year to paint, so folks will see some new and very different landscapes. Besides staying local in the Red Lodge area, we went to the rims behind Joliet, up the Meeteetse Trail, and out to Luther.” Some artists participating in this year’s plein air painting sessions along with Newman Tremblay were Mary Ringer, Betsy LaRowe, Sidne Overturf, Diana Mysse, and Galen Bummer. Plan to stop by the Arts Guild during October to see the artwork created by the plein air painters this summer. Expect to see some awe-inspiring landscape paintings plus some familiar scenes from around the county. The Guild will host a reception for the Beartooth Plein Air Society on Saturday, October 4th, 3-5pm. Meet the plein air painters and enjoy their exhibit. The reception is free and open to all and refreshments will be served. For more information about the Beartooth Plein Air Society, call Dorci Newman Tremblay at 446-1490.
