Marie Shirley Jones
Fabric Art, Colored Pencil, Mixed
Marie Shirley Jones has lived in Red Lodge,MT with her husband for 24 years. Marie grew up in Montana and has taught school in Miles City, Great Falls and Whitefish besides being the k-8 art teacher in Red Lodge for the past 17 years. She and her husband recently retired and now Marie has more time to focus on her art.
Marie loves mixed media art, as it involves gathering and dyeing before the process even begins. She loves all the surprises along the way and feels not knowing how something will turn out is half the fun. The fabric she uses is either hand dyed or a vintage treasure she's pick up somewhere. Often, Marie uses a rust transfer process on her fabric to give it an earthy feel that creates a sense of history.
Marie and her husband have an artful daughter at MSU studying graphic design.
