Mary Ringer was born and raised in Minnestoa. She started her education with David Swanson, learning the techniques of watercolor. After she moved to Red Lodge, Montana in 1991, she learned oil techniques from Ned Mueller, Scott Christensen and Linda Tibbetts. The artist has received numerous awards for both her watercolors and oil painting, including "Best of Show" at the Arts Center of Minnesota, Carbon County Arts Guild and the Cody Country Arts Guild. She has had several one-woman shows. Mary also designed the signature print "Daffodils for Jo" for the American Cancer Society of Hennepin County Minnesota for their annual fundraiser. Mary currently lives in a mountain-side cabin near a trout stream in the Custer National Forest. She paints once a week with a group of fellow artists who provide valuable critiques of each other's work and offer fresh ideas on technique, media and subject matter. ARTIST STATEMENT: "Primarily, I am a landscape painter, painting plein air in the summer months. I aim to capture the beauty of the moment. It is always a thrill, a continual learning process and very challenging."
