X-WR-CALDESC:Show title inspired by the Montana State Song\, “Montana Melod
y” by LeGrand and Colleen Harvey\n\n'This land we call Montana has long he
ld a special attraction for its wayfarers. From its first native inhabita
nts to present day adventurers\, there is a mystique that draws us in. We
\, as caretakers\, must ensure that this land of unique natural wonders\,
in all its awesome beauty and bounty\, remain a wild land. \n\n'Growing up
in a farming family\, I learned a respect and a deep appreciation for the
land. My husband and I introduced our own children to fishing\, hunting\
, and camping. The opportunities that these activities have provided conn
ects me ever more intimately with the forms and colors of the landscape.
As I capture the landscape of Montana in paint\, I’m keenly aware of the d
elicate balance of nature and the influence of humans in that balance.\n\n
'Will this wild and wonderful place always be so for my grandchildren\, gr
eat grandchildren\, and beyond\, or will it be a fleeting memory as the la
nd is eaten up in the greed of developments and a lack of awareness? My h
ope and prayer is for preservation of the land and the wildness\, not just
in paint or photo\, but in the hearts of all who visit. Montana is truly
heaven on Earth.'\n\n--Connie Herberg\n\n\nIn conjunction with this exhibi
tion\, Connie will teach a painting workshop June 14 and June 15.
