  exhibition features 34 pieces by 28 artists who are members of the Studio
  Arts Quilt Associates (SAQA) Montana/Idaho region. \n\nArtists were invit
 ed to explore and interpret a variety of meanings\, images\, and experienc
 es evoked by the theme\, Broad Spectrum: Abundant Palette. From the submis
 sions\, esteemed artist and juror Patty Kennedy-Zafred selected work for t
 he exhibition which is organized by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot G
 allery with support for traveling through the Montana Art Gallery Director
 ’s Association (MAGDA).\n\nStudio Art Quilt Associates\, Inc. (SAQA) defin
 es the art quilt as “a creative visual work that is layered and stitched o
 r that references this form of stitched layered structure.” And Broad Spec
 trum: Abundant Palette proudly represents the Montana and Idaho region of 
 art quilters. The juror\, Kennedy-Zafred says\, “The submissions reflected
  a broad range of style\, techniques\, and materials\, some pushing the bo
 undaries of tradition\, others using established materials in new and exci
 ting ways and many expressing a thought\, mood\, or personal story.” \n\nS
 ome of the SAQA artists live in Montana or Idaho part of the year and in A
 rizona\, Florida\, or other places during the rest of the year. Kennedy-Za
 fred notes\, “Realizing the geographic beauty of this region\, it was not 
 surprising to discover many artists who were informed and influenced by th
 eir natural surroundings and reflected this in their work.” \n\nArtists in
  the Broad Spectrum: Abundant Palette exhibition include: Angela McPherson
 \, Audrey Hyvonen\, Brian Dykhuizen\, Pat Budge\, Cathy Calloway\, Donna D
 eaver\, Daera Leslie Dobbs\, Joyce King Ferrie\, Lisa Flowers Ross\, Gina 
 Gahagan\, Sally K. Glutting\, Maura Grogan\, Ellen Herminghaus\, Maggy Roz
 ycki Hiltner\, Linda Hughes\, Monique Kleinhans\, Cheryl Lipari\, Christin
 e Mullaney\, Katy Kellogg Nygard\, Susan Sawatzky\, Marie Shirley-Jones\, 
 Sharon E. Stoneberger\, Naomi S. Velasquez\, Suzanne B. Warren\, Pam Wells
 \, Debra Zelenak\, Peg Ziegler\, and Heidi Ann Zielinski.\n\nEach piece is
  an exceptional display of the talented artists we have in the Montana and
  Idaho area. Kennedy-Zafred shares her thought on this and states\, “It ha
 s been my pleasure to spend time with all of this work\, to imagine the in
 tentions expressed\, and delight in the creativity and beauty of each quil
 t.” In addition\, she hopes that the artists in the show “develop renewed 
 confidence\, as they continue on their personal creative path.”\n \nThe ex
 hibition is touring and sponsored by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot 
 Gallery and MAGDA which is supported in part by grants from the Montana Ar
 ts Council\, the Coal Tax Trust Fund for Cultural and Aesthetic Projects\,
  and the National Endowment for the Arts. \n
