X-WR-CALDESC:Living near the valley in which his great grandparents homeste
 aded\, Bruce Marty has deeply rooted feelings for the local landscape. Roa
 ming the mountainous regions of Montana and Wyoming has been an inspiratio
 n for his creativity. While painting a wide range of subjects his primary 
 interest is to share his view of the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains\, th
 e Yellowstone River valley\, and the surrounding area. \n\nHis style is sh
 aped by the rugged beauty of this landscape\, the clarity of the atmospher
 e\, the intensity of the light\, and the depth of the shadows. Accurate dr
 awing\, informed color choices\, and descriptive brushwork are the tools h
 e relies on to capture the feeling of light and space.\n\nAt an early age 
 Bruce showed an avid interest in drawing and modeling clay. A self taught 
 artist he has worked in sculpture\, pencil drawing\, stained glass\, woodc
 arving and painting. His focus at present is painting landscapes in oil an
 d acrylics. The frames for each painting are handcrafted by the artist.\n
 \nA reception for the artist and this exhibition will be hosted Saturday\,
  August 9\, from 2-4 p.m. at the Depot Gallery. This event is free and ope
 n to the public.\n\nThis exhibition is organized by the Carbon County Arts
  Guild & Depot Gallery which is funded in part by coal severance taxes pai
 d based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana's cultural and
  aesthetic projects trust fund.\n\nThe Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Ga
 llery provides access to art\, supports artistic expression\, and encourag
 es creative experiences for the enrichment of our communities. \n
