Please join us in congratulating Guild Member, John Potter for being awarded Best in Show for 2D work at the Rendezvous Royale! This painting, "We Three Chiefs" will be up for live auction on the evening of Friday, September 19th, as part of the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody.
John shared that his wife came up with the concept behind this painting: a Native version of the Christmas song "We Three Kings" - hence the title "We Three Chiefs." "I wanted to depict that idea with the mountains just west of Cody - lit up by Sunrise light - for the backdrop of the painting (since Sunrise is a Sacred moment to us, to emphasize the Sacred moment happening in the village below)."
