Communities West V is the fifth iteration of a biennial exchange co-curated by Andrew Rice and Sukha Worob. The folio was created with the intention of building community among printmakers living in, or with unyielding ties to the Western United States. As members of the Western printmaking community, they each have a vested interest in reinforcing the printmaking community. The folio, through organically built additions to the group, provides a lens into the state of printmaking in the West.

For this fifth iteration of the project, participants from the first four folios were asked to participate again. The original list of participating artists is here with those who have been added over the years. Work represented in the folio is rich and varied in technique and concept. This group is made up of veteran and emerging printers, academics, and working artists who are as diverse as the work they created for the exhibition.

The Communities West V exhibition was juried down from 74 to 30 artists' works by Jen Garcia, a current copywriter, former art historian, and forever lover of printmaking. The traveling exhibition was organized by Sukoh Worob and Andrew Rice through the Montana Art Gallery Directors Association (MAGDA). It's first stop is at the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery in Red Lodge where the folio of prints will be on view February 24 through March 26, 2022.

Artists included in the exhibition are: Marty Azevedo, Joey Behrens, Laura Bigger, Haylee Canonico, Emmalea Chan, Todd Christensen, Marne Elmore, Nicole Geary, Rachel Hancey, Heather Huston, Abe Kimball, Karl LeClair, Amanda Lee, Hilary Lorenz, Linda Lyke, Johanna Mueller, Calli Nissen, Marnie Powers-Torrey, Nathaneal Read, Emily Ritter, Seth Roby, Brady Smith, Mike Sonnichsen, Camilla Taylor, Amy Thompson, Robert Truszkowski, Rachel Urban, Summer Ventis, Jen Watson, and Eric Wilson.

This exhibition is sponsored by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery which is supported in part by grants from the Montana Arts Council, the Coal Tax Trust Fund for Cultural and Aesthetic Projects, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
