Paintings by Bruce Marty

Friday, August 1, 2025Monday, August 25, 2025

Living near the valley in which his great grandparents homesteaded, Bruce Marty has deeply rooted feelings for the local landscape. Roaming the mountainous regions of Montana and Wyoming has been an inspiration for his creativity. While painting a wide range of subjects his primary interest is to share his view of the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains, the Yellowstone River valley, and the surrounding area.

His style is shaped by the rugged beauty of this landscape, the clarity of the atmosphere, the intensity of the light, and the depth of the shadows. Accurate drawing, informed color choices, and descriptive brushwork are the tools he relies on to capture the feeling of light and space.

At an early age Bruce showed an avid interest in drawing and modeling clay. A self taught artist he has worked in sculpture, pencil drawing, stained glass, woodcarving and painting. His focus at present is painting landscapes in oil and acrylics. The frames for each painting are handcrafted by the artist.

A reception for the artist and this exhibition will be hosted Saturday, August 9, from 2-4 p.m. at the Depot Gallery. This event is free and open to the public.

This exhibition is organized by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery which is funded in part by coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana's cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund.

The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery provides access to art, supports artistic expression, and encourages creative experiences for the enrichment of our communities.
