Omage to the Beartooth Front by Eleanor Guerrero
Eleanor Guerrero dazzles with her depiction of the natural world and Montana history. One of her first memories is swinging her arm full length with a crayon on a wall while her loving mother laughingly rushed to stop her. She received her first oil paints and canvases at 8. Later, she would walk blocks with armloads of art books from the library to copy from the masters.
Raised in the east and schooled in art and anthropology at Penn State University, she set her sights on the West decades ago and is firmly settled in Red Lodge. Her paintings hang in galleries from the Rocky Mountains to the corporate board rooms of New York and Miami. Her dramatic paintings bring you right before the magnificent animals and soaring mountain vistas of Montana. She explores unique color combinations and layers. Whether hiking the Rockies, or attending a powerful Native American ceremony, she has that particular gift of observing the details in nature, and translating that moment to the canvas, and, hence, to the viewer. Her art is on permanent exhibit in the Montana State Capitol Building.
Guerrero has sold and exhibited nationwide. Selected exhibitions include: Big Sky Auction for the Arts, Big Sky, Montana; Rocky Mountain Regional Juried Exhibition, Red Lodge, Montana; Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery, Red Lodge Montana; Frederick Gallery of Art, Frederickson, Virginia, and The Great Masonic Temple Art Exhibit, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has been invited to exhibit internationally.
